I started King in 2020 as a result of Brexit. I needed to be able to rely on the quality of the bait we were supplying to anglers, and ultimately the bait that was going into our lakes day in, day out throughout the season.

I didn’t want to produce baits that simply caught fish. I needed baits that fed our fish and improved them. Not just encouraging growth, but supporting health, promoting brilliant digestion and, of course, creating baits they wanted to eat time after time.

The success of the baits quickly got around. Anglers visiting our lakes saw the quality compared to what they had been using before, and started taking it back to the UK. Fisheries across Europe, especially in France, are now starting to understand the real benefits of supplying and feeding a bait of this quality. Not just for growth and health, but for water quality, consistent catch rates and a reduction in the amount of pellet that needs to be fed.

Most recently, again because of Brexit, anglers travelling from the UK to France, whether they are visiting a commercial pay lake or a public water, have realised just how simple it is to have our baits delivered anywhere. Direct to the lake, to their accommodation, or to a pick-up point so they can collect it en route.

I have been involved in and around bait making for longer than I care to remember. I have tested and developed baits alongside some of the best bait minds in the business since I was in my teens. I already had baits in the locker that had done me, and many others, proud for many years. I just needed to make a few adjustments to turn them into complete food-source baits that were perfect, especially as a house bait.

The result was the now famous King Squid, Sea Monster and the all-season Pro Liver GLM.
